Dear Stranger

Dear stranger,

I remember the day I first met you.
A short hello was all it took.
A day I won't forget.
You stood in front of me;
A mere foot away.

I was depressed.
I felt helpless;
So out of tune with any and everything else.

Dear stranger,

I remember when I looked up at you,
For the tiniest second.
Your smile stopped my heart,
Leaving me breathless.

I still think about it,
Like it was only a day ago.
You were here one moment
And gone the next.

Dear stranger,

You don't know who I am
And that's alright.
I just wanted you to know,
I see the world a little brighter now.

Your smile saved my life.
Saved me from a fall,
I didn't think I could stop.
I regret saying goodbye.

Dear stranger,

I'd forever etch your smile into my memory....

About this poem

I was at work one day, depressed. Feeling like I didn't want to live anymore. But then, this random woman walked in and we talked for a short while. The moment she smiled at me, I swear my heart actually stopped for a minute and it made my whole week. So this poem is for her.
