Young In Age

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

To the many still young in age.
And growing,
In various stages of life.
Knowing and aware,
With a consciousness to feel...
Disappointed and discouraged.
By these days and times to find them real.
Accept them as they are until...
You are in a position to change,
The multitude of these current conditions.

And that today will seem impossible.
If you remain disbelieving,
What is and can be possibilities.
But for now do your best.
To pass the most of difficult tests.
With a doing to prove,
To no one else but you.
That you alone can maneuver around,
Those negative obstacles on your path.
Faith kept to keep will not have them last.

Acknowledging,
When those days ahead...
Experiencing them to come and go.
You will look back,
In disbelief laughing.
As to how you could have allowed,
And permitted yourself.
To be upset over a pettiness,
Your own ignorance sought to defend.
Discovering a wisdom earned not given.

Oh,
And another thing.
Never be afraid to make mistakes.
Don't be a fool.
No.
Look for them to be made.
Yes.
And try not to deny or excuse,
Your ability to learn and know...
As much as you do.
Without pretending it!

Allow living your life,
To be the preacher, teacher.
And disciplinarian.
With The Almighty Creator,
Left to leave as your main confidant.
