A Thought on the Wind

Wesley P. Newman 2005 (Mt. Vernon)

I am a thought on the wind
Once surrounded by others,
But now alone, isolated
Just me and the wind

I am a memory of a better time
A time before
Before all the worry and doubt

They invade the mind
I fight back, but I could not win
I was cast out
Forgotten

I wonder where the wind will take me

Why should I care?
Anywhere has to be better than here.

About this poem

This poem, like many of my poems, is inspired by my experience with the world's most common mental illness.
