Good Fight

Douglas H. Mc Clintock 1934 (Sarnia, Ontario)

As a young man I was in a day to day battle
For the direction of my life.
I was sold on God's plan like block and tackle
My biggest asset for me was my beloved wife. ( Bette )

She was the one who pointed the way,
I shutter to think, where would I be today ?
A lovely gal with choice words to say
You must learn the lessons of trust and obey !

It's better  to give than receive,
Stop robbing God, give Him His share,
The one word in your life is to believe,
Nothing can defeat the power of prayer.

I have nothing to lose and everything to gain
What could I say to such an offer ?
Loving and knowing God was my aim
I thought very carefully and was not a scoffer !

God came into my life, like hook, line and sinker
No turning back with Jesus as my Savior.
My life was planned and not a wishful thinker,
Now I would not be a complete failure !

It has been a long life I have led, (87 )
Much love, appreciation, grief and sorrow.
Eating God's staff of life, His Bread,
Has anchored me, like no tomorrow !

I look back with a sigh
I know I have fought the good fight.
My God has given me. His ample supply,
To be in His Salvation Army is my delight !

And so dear reader, if you have read thus far
Accept the invitation to be in God's Army.
The pay is out of this world
A one way ticket to Eternity !
