No man is an Island

Douglas H. Mc Clintock 1934 (Sarnia, Ontario)

In a lifetime we will have many friends
Some close and many not so.
Can you have a friendship that never ends ?
Things in common will make it grow.

Friends at work, church, hobbies or sports.
When you are young you will have many.
Walking, hiking, cycling or riding a horse
One thing they do is keep you in company.

So you must have things in common.
But they say opposites do attract.
True friends are not to be forgotten,
Great friends will always leave an impact.

Most friends will come and go like the seasons.
They say a change is good as a rest.
Why are we drawn to some, must be for a reason.
Could it be the way they act and dress ?

Boy  or girl friend, what's the attraction ?
The way they talk, walk and listen,
Laugh or smile ,ask a question for your attention.
A  twinkle in their eye for no reason.

Anybody can have fair weather  friends
When your comeback efforts didn't come,
You must remember  the best of times will end
Even people that were your best chums.

I have met and trusted the One to be my final friend
And memories will be full and deep thus far.
Good thoughts in everything will it mend,
In conclusion I will say - I did it, Amen !
