Letters to the Sun
I believe that the Sioux said all things are conscious
even the rocks and stones
cognizance permeates all
and what's wrong with this notion
I sleep and I breathe have my own personal dreams
aware in a consciousness of so many things
who can say what a forest or a tree sees, feels or thinks
with its feet foundation deep in the rooted ancient soil of centuries
So profuse are we in the light of the sun
to say good morning to its beauty magnificence
sincerely believe in some other possible intelligence
and ask of it every day hello and how are you
You up there amidst the stars of spiraling arms
tell me are the doors of time ever changing for you
as they do here
you so far away yet still touching my skin
up there suspended in your eternal realm
What do you think and how do you feel
is everything ok
have you noticed just recently how we seem to believe
there's nothing to you accept atomic flames and unfathomable heat
little more than a star
is that who you are
nothing but a star
And although I walk beneath a canopy of leaves
with all life a chittering and chirping, buzzing and growing
breathing air into the fabric of my soul
warm I go wandering pass the herds, the flowers and butterflies
meet with strangers and say good morning to the smile in their eyes
the truth still remains
nothing would be here, down here on Earth
nothing at all
if you weren't up there
coruscant light on us all
So how are you doing, how's things today
do you ever feel lonely at all
with all of your sisters and brother being so far away
can I talk with a short while
tell you about the trouble we're in
we seem to have forgotten the infinite miracle
of all the life you have given
We've become so disconnected
have you noticed recently how we seem to think
there's nothing to you accept exploding atomics, sun spots
and the dangerously entrapment's of gravity
just like all those other suns so far away
little more than a star
is that who you are
nothing more than a star
