Who We Were

The steep staircase of life's learning
Straight, then crooked, curved,
Circular, ever endlessly upward
On this sensational, scenic trip of lusty life
Vast panoramas, pictorial, pleasing eyes and palate, influenced,
tutored, loved, cajoled by many
All eyes on the inner mind Impregnated and immersed
As it surpasses the compact human computer
Stored in the murky mass of messy cells In our brilliant brain; active, agitated
We envision, exactly recall, digest by experience
So sensually sophisticated are we
That we evolve, develop, fathom
Rationalize into complicated patterns
The highest, greatest gift to humanity Inspire infinite, incredible possibilities
A maturing prototype; compose, invent,
Unlike the finished product from a candy line production
Instead pray action, rebirth of who we are,
Carry our secret banner within our hearts
Aspire to god-like greatness
Almost touching the magnificent magic of the unreachable
Of who we were, who we are, and who we will become
