Love Was Theirs Under A Blood Red Moon

1.
for at first my belly yearned for what !
the yearning still -instills my soul
of what I may never know !
be it thirst of spiritual  love
or the love my heart cries
for want of one more lively hour
or the end to life's painful farewell
don't look down on my wilting soul
nor wish me all the more
for what I've gotten I've never known
one acre of lust or fame.
2.
be gone from my heart the ghost wails
the cursed moon sings so loudly in the night
while all the while my spirit mourned
within my darkest hours
there comes a tale of two hearts
that loved within their souls
their hands tied behind their back
without a touch to touch
with parched lips they vowed
to raise their spirits high in death
but death held them all the more.
3.
on the darkest night  death held no chains
too tight to crush their their souls in flames
the grave held its spell much like a winter wind
two star struck souls left alone without a ray of hope
could only die beside themselves
to walk the last dark mile home
two unknowns left unmarked
with only a forgotten name
with a love that no one knew
still walk the trails alone
finding me and you.
4.
for the thirst we felt we had
was quenched by the full blood moon
no tale a dead man tells in their darkest hour
nor a hand to lift us up as our body wastes away
can there be found a wandering love beyond our last breath !
except the moon bleeds upon the love and life we held
I know too well dreams are ceased in the deep beyond
no fairer love could be found beside these moldy graves
where only death could bring them peace - no one knows
nor will ever see their hands interlocked
beneath the blood ripe moon.

About this poem

I wanted to do a spooky kind of Edgar Allen Poe type of poem.
