EVIL TOWN

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

Evil Town isn't far from you
It's a place most people never know,
A place where people hide at night
And no-one would ever choose to go.

Evil Town is a desert world where
Tarantulas and crocodiles abound,
Where nothing good comes your way
And loathsome horrors creep around.

Manticore, shoggoths, and more
Creep around the town by night,
Seeking fools walking outside
So they can feast until daylight.

Predators of all shapes and sizes
Would love to feed on human meat,
Though they'll kill most anything
Anything they could possibly eat

Evil Town is a ghastly place
Where loathsome creatures dwell,
It's situated in a desert wasteland
Within a sunken dell.

Evil Town is scorching by day
But, in the night you'll freeze,
Then when the next day's sun rises
You'll be longing for any breeze.

Marauders prowl outside the town
Tormenting the passersby,
But most are too afraid to enter town
For fear of the lethal night.

For night is when the killers rise
And stalk the streets of Evil Town,
Slinking through the sandy place
Carefully listening for any sound.

God help those who stray out at night
When the predators are all around,
For this could be their last night alive
Their last night in Evil Town.
