"The Lover"

The Lover

I have loved so many,
I still remember all their names,
The smell of their perfumes.
I remember our love songs
and the scents of our passion.

Her beautiful eyes, her piercing eyes, her sparkling eyes.
I never knew eyes came in such colors, but it is the mirror eyes that enslave you! Those searching eyes that leave your soul unbarred, yet love you all the same.

I carry all this love inside,
like tears of blood and a song of hope, like scars of joy and the last lie of freedom.

Love so soft and tender it could shatter a heart of stone, love as hard as Steele that could be bent with a kiss.

Love that dreamed of me, love that dreamed of another, dreams of love unfulfilled and lovers dreams filled full.

Some I loved too long, some I loved not long enough, and there were those I got just right, a sort of "goldie locks" of love, all endless love in the end!

And again all those eyes, now filled with tears, judging, the lies of love, .hers, mine, our's!
Tainted love, hers, mine, ours, I wear this love like a tattoo.
(Sade said that)

About this poem

The indelible effects of a life lived for love. With all of its perturbations, no doubt it sucks to get it wrong! But it does make for memories of a lifetime! The Good, The Bad and The Ungly! I thank God for it all!
