i. succulents

watering the succulents
green in some places, brown in others
because the sun does not reach the window
watering the succulents
outside my door, people love, fight, f*ck
and i take care of them
because who else will?

watering the succulents
nevermind the volunteer hours, the homework, the tryouts
because i wanted them so desperately
satering the succulents
knowing they will die, not caring
because they are everything i have
and all that will ever be

About this poem

A dialogue between me and plants, things that should never be trapped together in a lonely dorm room.
