AFRICA

AFRICA

Africa, the only continent
Crossed by equator
The tropic of Cancer
And the tropic of Capricorn
My father's Land!
We are black
Black is beautiful

Whispers from far away lands
That the cock announces our time
That Africa is archaic, crude and rudiment
Yet Crickets, birds, and trees
Sing in unison to an untold
Lullaby
Donkeys adorned in ornaments
As thrones takes pride in it
Cattles grazes to the rhythmical jibes of the herders
While the animals quack
And from campfire nights
To tales by the moonlight.
We are black
Black is beautiful.

East and west
Claim the rising
And setting of the sun
Like Africa claims the
Sahara desert and the Nile River
Vast Savannah and mountains
Yet, our skin
Rough and tough to the glory of the sun
Bold and Beautiful to the admiration of the world
Aquatic splendor
To the makers grace.
We are black
Black is beautiful.

Amidst loops and lapses
Betrayal and counter betrayals
She stoops to conquer.
Inspires and shines like the sunshine
Trade Of retarded hood
And refined technologies
For unspeakable lude
Tens of thousands of energetic youths
Carted in shackles and chains
Ferried across seas
Mother's cried
Father geared
tears and blood on the ancestral land
Monumental Deities...bad omen.
Self determination
Now intellectual decolonization
New gods introduced, accepted and embraced
Yet peaceful coexistence abounds.
We are black
Black is beautiful!

Now our history,
What we were
Where we were
What has been
Where we are going
As emphasized by Malcolm X
We know where we came from
We know how we got here
We can't be demoted to lower animals
No more genocide
It's our African heritage
We are black
Black is beautiful!

Ranges of continental dishes
Sure, the taste of the pudding
Is in the eating
The bed rock of food
The treasure of fruits
The healing herbs
The adorable beads
We are black
Black is beautiful!

In worship
Africans cries to the Deities  the cosmos
The winds, seas, fire and earth
The four elements
Progenitors of their fore father's
Preserved for posterity in sculptors
Ancestral lineage
Chants of the spirits
We are black
Black is beautiful!

Oh!
The hook, line and sinker?
Like tabularasa
They lack the comprehension
Worries of unity in diversification.
My tomorrow today
Sons and daughters
Making us proud across the universe
The world trade is home
Thanks to Iweala
What can the world do without Africa?
Africa is Magical
We are black
Black is beautiful
