ANGER OF MY POEM
ANGER OF MY PEN*
The precious land of jewels
Such was our land, our world
Where fishes jump off river
Sighting the hook-earthworm
Birds sing while trees clap
Cow plough farm
And human plants crops
Diversity in relativity
Joined by the unknown
Strange to others culture
Misconstrued believe
Politically brain-washed
Yet there we hung still
The desire to make it work
The efforts of the youths
Misplaced priorities
Sold out judges
Pimp legislators, all abides
Philosophy over Ideology
Supremacy over Democracy
Mediocrity over meritocracy
We lost with inconsistency
It's still our mothers land
Now my pen spite venoms
Its tears - blood
My hand...weak to write
From extremism to terrorism
Beef of farmers and herders
Tribes against tribes
Homes burnt
Blood on farmland
Reprisal attacks
To civil unrest...
Lack of human right activist
The voice in the wilderness
To the Fear of the unknown
Reminiscing...
Our uncircumcised unity
The call for a change
Change in leadership
The dawn...
A Messiah
One with military mentality
One who's senility is odd
Yet willing to knock sense
Into contumacious heads
And whipping all into sense
A kind bully
The prophets short-sighted
If not, how did we get here?
How do we blame the gods?
Things indeed falls apart
Who can mend the center?
I cry for the toddlers
For the unborn
Our tomorrow's story tellers
For me...
Let's wait upon hope
Sure, history will be told.
Either with Laughs
Or wailings...
About this poem
June 12 1993 is a date engraved in the heart of all Nigerian. The day that true democracy was murdered. This poem was written to lament the derailing political umpire of Nigeria state and it's state of insecurity. A pure state of agony brought about by the ruling class and the political elites...The lonely voice in the wilderness is the vexation of the pen..my poem.
