Dream to Make It All Worth While

I place the blame upon no soul
All that has come about has been a call from me
And though my dream may have been shattered,
I know that in the core of things,
it was I who steered the ship against the wind.
Only to later learn. that poor judgment
And egoistical decision
Rained havoc on my anticipations,
And so, escaped my dreams of youth.
Too late my friend, too late, such sadness will forever follow,
Yet, I am moved to look elsewhere, for times have changed,
With other horizons that beckon; tantalizing with their calling.
My mind is set to course, the way is without boundaries
requiring a firm steadiness of direction, but
I can sense the vigor once again.
And what is there to live for, if only for what has not been?
And who swears to have tasted life, if he's never ventured a dare?
For life keeps just beyond our fingertips, to tease
and make us dream
dream to make it all worthwhile.
