If These Shoes Could Talk
Danyettia Crawford 1985 (United States)
If these shoes could talk
They would tell you how tired I am
Of living in a world where loving God seems irrelevant
If these shoes could talk
They would say don’t cry for me
You were given the chance to love me but instead you chose to leave
If these shoes could talk
They would say how strong I was
And even in my weakness God strength was so much more
Let me tell you about these shoes that many feet could not fit
See the life I was given these shoes was a perfect fit
Many would have fell because their feet were too small
But when God gave me these shoes He promised He wouldn’t let me fall
These shoes got heavy along the way
I often would take them off-I even tried running away
But see these shoes were built specially for me
And even when they got heavy I still needed them to cover my feet
If these shoes could talk
They would tell of my inner scars
But most of all they would tell you about the things that broke my heart
If these shoes could talk
They would tell you how I conquered my fears
They would tell my transformation and why they took me here
To place and a time where I needed these shoes
I had to fight many battles but God saw me through
These shoes were rough from the travel near and far
But my soul stayed intact even with scars
So if these shoes could talk
They would tell you the story of me
And how my life was blessed because these shoes could only fit my feet!
These Shoes!
