Greatness

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

A known to have established greatness,
Is not in need to repeatedly declare it.
Or with weapons to enforce its respect.
Achieving to keep a greatness to earn,
Takes humility to know and believe...
A greatness to have it established,
By the efforts endeavored and shown...
Done to do to show to those disrespect!
Can one day slowly fade away.
Leaving pretension sitters,
And imitating impression makers left.
To believe a image given,
Of what power is to have it.
Has little to nothing to do with greatness.
Achieved.
With the abilities and talents,
Of a diverse people.

Unfortunately,
The having of common sense...
To depend upon and use?
Seldom stays that way.
Especially when too many perceive,
What is given to them not to earn...
Automatically with them remains.
Without the maintaining of reality!

'How dare you take 'your' greatness,
Away from 'us'!'

'Excuse me.
And...
Who are you?'

'We...
Are the image keepers!
