Earth Shadows

We looked out from the peak of the mountain top
Across the glory of the earth,
The blue-grey air lingering throughout
The beauty in our hearts.

I felt your arms around me
And a raindrop on my face.
The tenderness and quiet of the moment
Magnified the magic of our embrace.

Then the flood of our emotions
Overwhelmed the gentleness of the rain.
Quiet mountain solitude gave me peace
And eased my pain.

Emerald trees canopied over us;
Forests and fields stretched out below.
We melted into God's garden
As violet evening began to glow.

I know time will pass forever on,
And you will go away....
But the memory remains of the mountain top
And that heavenly, rainy day.
