Praise His Works
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I will give thanks unto the Lord,
Praising the Lord with my whole heart;
Being upright in one accord,
As His doctrine I will impart.
The works of the Lord are so great,
Sought out them all with such delight;
A priceless worth to compensate,
More than in return that I might.
Full of splendor and majesty,
His righteousness lasts forever;
Our humbleness and modesty,
Brings honor that will not sever.
He has caused of such wondrous deeds,
Remembered for mercy and grace;
Compassion full for our needs,
Comforting us here in this place.
He provides food for those who fear,
And remembers His covenant;
Whenever we pray, He will hear,
Responding to make us content.
He shows His people the power,
Giving birthright to the nation;
Only He will know the hour,
Making them a new creation.
The works of His hands are faithful,
All of His commandments are sure;
All who do trust and are grateful,
Because of His judgments are pure.
They are established forever,
Being performed with uprightness;
They standfast and will not sever,
Their glory shines with such brightness.
To each one He sent salvation,
Bids His covenant forever;
Through the power of redemption,
Of a reverend endeavor.
Fear the Lord to begin wisdom,
To have a good understanding;
With faith to enter His Kingdom,
Follow what He is commanding.
