Love Law
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Let us not judge one another,
Put no one at a stumbling block;
As a hindrance to your brother,
Clearing the path where they may walk.
I know and I am persuaded,
In the Lord nothing is unclean;
Arguments can be evaded,
From past distractions that have been.
If your brother grieves what you eat,
You will no longer walk in love;
Offer him a meal with some meat,
That would appeal to him thereof.
Do not destroy Jesus who died,
Let not good spoke of as evil;
Rather let His Spirit abide,
Blocking the lure of the devil.
It is not what you eat or drink,
But righteously for peace and joy;
Heavenly thoughts that you should think,
Rather than hawkish to destroy.
Whosoever is serving Christ,
Will be acceptable to God;
And willing to be sacrificed,
Through worship to honor and laud.
Let us pursue what makes for peace,
And your mutual upbuilding;
So that all destruction will cease,
Any offenses are yielding.
Eat no meat nor drink any wine,
To cause another to stumble;
Keep faith in the Holy Divine,
As you always remain humble.
Whoever doubts God will condemn;
For deviating faith is a sin;
Neither cold nor hot be for them,
Exiled from Heaven therein.
