Resist Involvement

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Resist involvement,
Marinated in a scent...
Attracting to welcome foolishness.
Sniff it for what it is.
And...
If possible stay distant from it.

Too many curious will not admit,
There are times that come...
When minding one's own business,
Seems impossible to avoid.
Especially when something fresh and new,
Is introduced to seduce...
One's nose to direct it in places,
Where familiar faces are seen...
Discussing their opinions.
Adding spice to a foolishness.
Making hot was is not.
Yet rumored about to say,
Others were there to validate.
With names to give.
And addresses where they live.

Heed to warnings and suggestions made.
Resist involvement.
Created to escalate,
A turning up the heat.
To have been marinated to welcome,
Not only foolishness but conflict too.
Making hot was is not.
And too attracting to avoid.
Sniff it for what it is.
Cover your nose and turn the other way.
And if possible,
Stay distant from it.
To then pray and thank God,
You managed to keep your nosey self...
From being accused,
Of knowing what happened.
Others will claim you too were there.
To validate lies they created to tell.

And all you would have done to do,
Was to stand on your toes.
Looking over heads.
Hearing them making up stuff.
To get closer and discover,
Nothing to have caused...
A yelling and shouting.
With it then to ask someone else,

'Why are you here involved in this B.S?
When I'm sure you can find,
A better use of your wasted time!'

'OH?
And you?
Why are you here?'

'Curiosity.
That's all.
