Windows Of Existence

Liandra Hewins 1956 (Lewiston)

Traveling from here to there
the radio chatters in my periphery.
A physicist is telling us that we are all bags of organized molecules within a window of consciousness.
My molecules focus,
my organized lips smile.
Ah yes dear boy, tis physically true...
but these eyes do so much more than see.
A window of existence has been flung open,
life in it's myriad forms breathes.
Will we wink out one day?
Will this window of existence close?
Perhaps...but consciousness is not molecular.
What it truly is will be free then to fly.

About this poem
