PUPPETS (Pinocchio in Reverse)

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

Generation-Y today are like puppets
Or something very much worse,
While Pinocchio went from wood to flesh
Generation-Y has done the reverse.

They’ve gladly given up their freedom
And let others take over control,
They don't like thinking for themselves
And, prefer just to do as they’re told.

Like puppets their minds are wooden
And they move like they’re jerking on strings,
Sometimes the truth can really hurt
And they just don’t want the worry it brings.

So they readily accept the tangible lies
Of the idiots who now make the rules,
They accept politically correct nonsense
That they’re taught every day in their schools.

Like puppets their actions are jerky
Like puppets, their heads are of wood,
They no longer know how to fight for the truth
They wouldn’t even if they still could.

They no longer know how to stand tall
Like puppets, they dance on a string,
They do whatever the Leaders say
And they never dare question a thing.
