Humanity Sucks

Dr. T. Pinnock 1962 (Hartford, Ct)

Since my birth.
I never feared anyone or anything on this earth.
I once thought good about humanity.
Then I read Thucydides.
To give is to be hated in any society.
Weakness surrounds me.
Stop dreaming I was told.
Be ordinary for I'm old.
Worry about my debts abound.
Forget my purpose and face the loser's ground.
Greed and jealousy permeate each soul.
No one wonder in Jewish and Christian theology, God destroyed humanity by taking back control.
I actually thought most used their higher brain.
I was swallowed with disdain.
Ignorance and money are King.
Goodness is just a celebrity thing.
I do not understand a word those constantly around me say.
I just work, get rebuked and pay.
But I travel within.
Where my joy never DOES end.

Dr. T. Pinnock

Dr. Pinnock first wrote poetry in the institution he resided in inside a classroom at 8 years old. The typewriter was old and manual with a keyguard. A keyguard is a device with an opening for each key to prevent a person lacking fine motor skills from accidentally hitting a key. Dr. Pinnock was granted permission to use the class alone. He labored there typing for hours ignoring his cerebral palsy. Dr. Pinnock grew up with his family until August of 1970. Poverty forced his parents to make him a ward of the State of Connecticut. more…
