Thunder Lightning And Rain

Dr. T. Pinnock 1962 (Hartford, Ct)

At night when the moon shines like a diamond, the sun crawls into the earth.
The creaking of the night, starts to weep its first tear.
The stars like the sun sparkling on the sea, beauty surrounds the quiet earth.
Then noises of thunder start to shape, it travels with know notice of time,, loud sound of thunder, crushes childrens ears.
Lightning begins weak, then it expands the echos.
It strikes, the whole night turns to dawn.
Rain drops trembles its first cry, rain drops grow hard among the streets, becomes the form of streams, it stops.
Color of silk, in the smiling rainbow, opens the young star, as people admire the glory.

Dr. T. Pinnock

Dr. Pinnock first wrote poetry in the institution he resided in inside a classroom at 8 years old. The typewriter was old and manual with a keyguard. A keyguard is a device with an opening for each key to prevent a person lacking fine motor skills from accidentally hitting a key. Dr. Pinnock was granted permission to use the class alone. He labored there typing for hours ignoring his cerebral palsy. Dr. Pinnock grew up with his family until August of 1970. Poverty forced his parents to make him a ward of the State of Connecticut. more…
