It’s a boy (black boy)

When the health official yelled, it’s a boy! Them words  should hv brought  my heart so much joy.   I was happy, but he’s not only a boy, he's, “ a black boy”. I not  only have to celebrate, but keep praying for his fate.  He will be viewed as nothing, but black. Because he’s black, I know he will have to try harder coming from the  back. Will he make it on someone’s hiring list, or what are his chances of being picked? Because of this will he become bitter? While  in deep thoughts, news came on and they said, another cop got an acquittal.  Again the words echo, it’s a boy! Before I could get back in deep thoughts, a black  doctor walked in the room and everything I was thinking went away. It was like a reminder for me to trust  in God and keep my faith. It’s a boy no matter his color God need me to just stand strong like Mary and be his mother.
