Earth Speech

Six billion souls, sucking the earth dry
resources, mass destruction and supply
double, the 40 year population growth
issues double sided, solutions to both
hundred year old tree instantly gone
hundred planted, hundred years growth, spawn
learning curves, metal studs replace
urban housing developments we embrace
oxygen rich, carbon dioxide fed
rain forest destruction we all dread
environmentalists wacko why?
Future generations, breathing air we now buy
nature speaking volumes, reactions we must study
minute machinery, and tree sapping bloody
uprisings rising up, complex constructions
and global economic powerful productions
progressive economic progress
some things cost more, some things less
a synthetic plastic future
our own resourcefulness, we must now suture
