Hearts

Rhymed
Some hearts are for the taking
too quickly given away
and some hearts are for the breaking
too fragile  to bear the pain

The best hearts are near bursting
with love enough to share
with other hearts that are not so daring
too timid at first to care

Your heart, my dear, is a treasure
valued more than I can say
for all its love is still unmeasured
though it  keeps giving every day

About this poem

the beating of the heart is in itself a song
