Life sentence

GIDRAF MWANGI 1992 (Murang'a)

I was born, a life sentence
Curse the day, curse the mother
May the sweaty fellow rot!

Why did I have to be condemned
To this? Why?
What did I do to deserve it?
What indeed?
Don’t I deserve an explanation?
Something to make me see sense!

Who was my incompetent lawyer
Who botched my defense?
Or was there no trial?
Just unilateral condemnation!

Who were the jury?
Yes! Who?
Were they compromised?
If so, by who?
 God or Devil?
And is there any redress?

And lastly, my phantom
Can I appeal?
And can I present myself this time?

And where is the damn appeal court anyway?
Here or nether?
Dead or alive?

…should I commit suicide?
