Grim world
GIDRAF MWANGI 1992 (Murang'a)
The world is grim
Especially when the sun
goes dim
And the dark attacks with vim
The winds blowing are evil
They carry a strong odour
Of malevolence
As if it has swept up
Through sewage
The weather is cursed
Fixated on maximum damage
Melting icy water reservoirs
Cracking the land in its fury
The crops are plagued
Blighted by both nature
And pests
Stunted in mineral deprivations
Wilting in the eternal drought
The men are demented
Mind gone askance
They kill each other passionately
Whenever they tire hating each other
Grim times indeed.
