Analysis of The expression of Love
Today I felt like writing a poem,
Perhaps on the fall of Caesar, or the rise of Rome…
But then I felt it’d be a bore
And you’d never shout, “Encore”.
I then considered colourful roses and birds,
Or the vast savannas and their grazing herds,
But still it wasn’t quite the thing
That’d make your heart swoon… or sing.
I then pondered on a bright summer’s day
And all the marvelous things I might say,
Yet still the words clung to my tongue
And would not express the feeling of which my heart sung.
When finally I sat down to write
It was not about roses or a romantic night
But the simple expression of my love for you
Like the twinkling diamond in the drop of dew.
Whilst I yet wrote the pen surrendered,
Knowing my love for you is more than the words any ink’s rendered
For you make me full… complete and merry,
Just to have you as my wife Kerry.
