Analysis of Winning At Any Expense

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Many will do anything,
To win.
Regardless of the expense and cost,
That overturns a loss.
Proven to do it under microscope.
Or telescoped.
Using the most advanced technology,
Taxpayer's money...
Secretly used to prevent,
Truth revealed to publicly expose.

These are desperate times for those,
Living to idolize,
Symbolized images...
Historically worshipped.
With statues to create...
The faking of victorious poses.

Oh...
So devastating,
Truth and its reality can be.
For the many raised on comic books.
And animated cartoons seen,
On those Saturday mornings.
Long before computers.
And captivating wide screen TV.
Embedded in minds.
Fed to feed their children.
And each generation,
To have come since then.
Doing anything and everything...
Possible to be seen,
As warriors of the Universe.
Champions!
Winners.
Adorned with capes.
Seeking enemies to conquer.
In high definition.
Orchestrated!
And in blinding panoramic color.

With paid announcements marketing,
The best of fast foods.
Cures for the latest ailments.
Guaranteed weight loss remedies.
And...
Newly developed sexual devices.
To practice on partners unknown.
But promises to please,
Minutes of forgettable pleasures!

'Your assessments...
Are not only disgusting.
But also sinister and appalling.'

'Tell me about it.
And I remember just being,
Thoughtlessly cynical and sarcastic!
So changed have times become!
Oh well...
I guess losing my appetite,
For pretensions...
Has something to do with aging.

Who knows,
Which way the wind may blow.
Maybe tomorrow,
I will awaken to find...
Being less honest,
To myself and others...
Is far more acceptable than not!

Afterall...
This is my first time to age.
And to do it growing older!'

'I kid you not.
I have yet to receive,
A description...
On how to do that and at my best!
However...
Winning at any cost.
And at my expense to pay?
Is the furthest thing from my mind,
When my aches and pains...
Remind me on a daily basis,
My primary doctor...
And prescribed medications?
In my life are winners.
With no objections from me to hear!

And that you can interpret,
Any way you wish.
I already know who has won.
At my expense.'

'Geeessshhh!
Just how old are you!'

'Not a dime have you paid me,
To get that personal!
