Analysis of Allure of a Snare

A. Dale Ambers 1949 (Taylor County, Ky)

Many things are given voice,
Perhaps at times there is no choice.
When lips are loose and heart strings tight,
Words will spill into the light.

Too long bound within the dark,
Resisting yet we still remark.
I will not say it so I say,
With great resolve and turn away.

It's all been said so many times,
Spoken in my thoughts and rhymes.
And yet the thing itself so real,
An utterance will not reveal.

Only a hint or subtle clue,
Suffice to bring it into view.
I will not say it so I say,
Still I could. I might. I may.

What would you think? What would you do?
Would you feel it vain or true?
I deceive myself I know,
In denial it will surely grow.

Without doubt you are A Snare.
Enraptured though I venture there.
Quiet me if you would not hear,
My lips begin to move I fear.

I will not say it so I say,
But I love you anyway.
