Analysis of Wrestling With Reality

The life and times of today's man
Evolving from a life of brute force to thinking again
The world around us seems to be changing fast
As we are desperately trying to change the past
Rewriting history along the way to our goal
Thanking God as we try to replenish our souls
Studying history to avoid the pitfalls of others
Learning not just be strong, but to also be lovers
Making sure that our families and loved ones feel us
Hoping that in the end they can all still deal with us
Our minds are often consumed by the anger and hatred
Instilled within us by the way life plays with us
The reality of living out our lives in a strange world
As we strive to instill values in our boys and girls
Things will be different for them this time around
So we must work to make sure that life doesn't bring them down
Uplifting ourselves as we overcome the ever growing pain
And uphill battle that never seems to be the same
Manifesting itself in new and different forms daily
Coping with these forces can make you to seem crazy
The cost of striving for success while trapped in failure
Brief moments of peace coming from simple pleasures
That's the only way to avoid breaking down on your knees
Triumphant over your struggle but yet you still bleed
Alone with no one to wrap up the ever opening wounds
And no chance to think because situations change so soon
Reflexes are quickened by each new experience you survive
Waking up everyday with the constant question of why?
No matter what happens, you still have to push on
Even if you fall to the ground with no cushion
You must still try to gain ground on your mission
Some will get help from praying or religion
Others will find relief from the quick fix of drugs
In the end, they will all unite around the need for love
The universal factor that connect us all to life
That thing you seek out in the heat of the night
Feeling your inner being with the energy to move on
The one thing in your life that always been proven
Proven time and time again regardless of why or where
Ensuring that through all the obstacles you will still care
Helping you to avoid apathy and the desire to hate
Allowing everybody to see themselves clearly and relate
To the triumph of being alive and breathing
Knowing in your heart, it was only love you needed
