Simple Things

The simple things can be the hardest things
The shortest night can bring the longest dreams
Money & power can bring security & peace
Drugs can make the body warm & make stress cease
Sex can make life seem simple and bring inner peace
Regardless some things must still occur and some things must still be done
Bills must get paid and tomorrow must still come
Because life can only be what life is to you
Nobody can change your view of what you been through
They can only attempt to ease the pain thru understanding
Simple gestures are offered though your problems are more demanding
But they'll say don't get mad it's the thought that counts
But is it really that or is it that they just failed to see your pain clearly
They thought they could but they never could get you clearly
Clearly as the person you are, not what they thought you were
The real you, the person that saw the problem occur
But couldn't express it because of too much emotion
Too much going on, your brain froze during all the commotion
Afterwards they realized what occurred, the event was just a blur
But their mind replayed it as if it had just happened outside
Replayed like a gun clappin on surveillance during a homicide
The long hard memory nobody wants to deal with when it occurs
The kind that brings back all the pain, all the words
From the argument you just had, making recovery impossible
No way to it can be seen through the still fresh problem
Without time to heal the wound, the heart will bleed to death
Leaving nothing left but time and a shell of your former self
Because you never stopped to take the time to think over things
As if life was just one long apathetic reality-based dream
When the whole time the problem was just a simple thing
