Analysis of The Best of Men

Sometimes I write stupid poems that just pop into my head. Even more stupidly I post them without thinking. That is because I am not perfect. However this poem is one that means a lot to me.

The Best of Men

He arrived beyond his father's life
A child to influence the world
A kindly, honest and agreeable man
Trusted and respected by all.

Enemies could not fault his character
Friends never felt inferior
He laid our foundations and built us
Into an edifice to shake the world.

He did not lie, cheat or steal
And compromised so little
Only that which was sound
His mercy is so often overlooked.

The straight path is often hard
But think on this you Ummah
We walk it together in company
But he first blazed the trail alone.

Tolerance, justice, mercy and love
Is what he had for all mankind
But what do you show to him
Your lives are full of the cult of self.

He is not the Prophet of a sect
He is the prophet of humankind
Do not seek to keep him for yourself
Take his word to the world.

You want only to kill and punish
Mercy and wisdom are left behind
Offer the open hand to others
Leave the sword in its sheath.

There is no compulsion in Islam
You would do well to remember this
A forced believer is no believer
Belief is a choice of free will.

Pull together and bury your hatreds
All the world is our back yard
Your prophet set the best example
Now set your heart to Islam.
