You Cannot Chain My Soul

I will not embrace mediocrity
Please learn that with alacrity
I will always strive for the best
Through every trial and test.

You can offer me all you can afford
But I work of my own accord
You can steal the credit and glory
Because I work to my own life story.

I work to make things better
But it's my soul you try to fetter
You do not use an iron chain
Your fetters are forged from pain.

You'll never be the one to own me
My soul will forever fly free
You can only make life very sad
Your own soul has turned so bad.
