Analysis of Stay

I think about you in the quiet of the darkness
as I turn and force portions of my familiar breath out
I am restless
Impatient of all that I am not
and more so, of all that I am really about

Taking careful notes and impressions
Of your all your soft coverings and other unyielding parts
Thinking about the last movement between us
The vines, the uproar, and fierceness of our two hearts
But mostly the way in which you are always so good...
at just the impression of being

My body lies motionless and so often, authentically terrified
from all the immeasurable ways in which you choose to love me
Carefully noticing the air and detangling all my doubts of degree

As I struggle to waken
The morning clouds are billowing with messages to give
Feet on the floor, your humanity waits to keep me captive again

And as I feel the rush pass through me
I know now that I will not come apart

Feet on the floor
I reach out to you with no questions or unease
Moving straight for you
I uncover and stay

My skin
Your hands
Effortless...

Do you think about me in the quiet of the darkness?

Cheryl Newton

I have been seriously writing poetry since I was in my early twenties. I am 38 now. I write in my down time. By day I am a busy oncology nurse. At night I turn into a delicious poetress."Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.” ~AristotleThis is only a very small selection of my poems. I have written over 100 (and counting) Love that there is such a great venue as this for those of us who are so creative. =) POETS ROCK! more…
