The Looking Glass

I hate September
It reminds me that chill is coming
December always seems to set into motion
my ruining

God I remember sitting all by myself
watching all the snowflakes float down
I was praying for some kind of liberation in every third breath

from anyone
from anyone who had ever cared about me

You took almost everything
And I stood there with you
I found you
I made you better
You told me that you loved me finally
On the exact day that you were leaving me
But I was so happy, for I believed in you

So swiftly our worlds crashed
……and then came the revolution

Now months have been years
And the years, a bit more than a few

Let me just be honest….
Forgiveness is not so therapeutic
Sometimes you have to howl and hate

And it never changes the sensations
Our needle points
The depth of our injuries
Remembering the waste

The genericness of our last goodbye
Truly...
How could it have been any better than that?

Cheryl Newton

I have been seriously writing poetry since I was in my early twenties. I am 38 now. I write in my down time. By day I am a busy oncology nurse. At night I turn into a delicious poetress."Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.” ~AristotleThis is only a very small selection of my poems. I have written over 100 (and counting) Love that there is such a great venue as this for those of us who are so creative. =) POETS ROCK! more…
