Analysis of Silent but for...
As I sit on the swing
Darkness envelopes me
As the pale moon rises into the night sky
Silent but for the creaking of the swing,
Moving rhythmically back and fourth.
Silent but for the grasshopper chirping,
Crying to be heard by and by.
Silent but for the dancing of the breeze,
Pushing past the bare brush and branches.
Silent but for the deer sprinting,
Rustling the bramble and leaves.
Silent but for the moring dove taken flight,
Cooing its mournful song to the stars.
As I sit on the swing
Emptiness fills me
As the flames of life flicker only just so...
