Analysis of Sallie Mae

Sallie Mae,
For many young adults, you make a way,
to get an education, to earn degrees,
but as everyone knows, college is not free,
you get us to sign for loans at the ripe age of eighteen,
when we're young, stupid, gullible, and naïve,
to get to go to the school we want, brings us glee,
But it comes at a cost,
our humanity

We spend many years in school, preparing for success,
blowing thousands of dollars you give us in refund checks,
two, three, maybe four times a semester, there and here,
trapped inside in a box for four long years,
cheered on by our parents, punished by our peers,
while we spend time in class learning,
and at our crappy part-time jobs working,
the interest on those loans is rapidly growing,
the years fly by, graduation day has come,
and so has judgement day,
You're out of school, it's time to pay

She gives you six months to find a job, reach your goals,
when time is up, she starts raking you over the coal,
she's sending you letters, blowing your land and cell phone up,
you can run, but you can't hide,
change your name, dye your hair, move to a new state,
go off the grid, get plastic surgery, relocate,
she will find you, her organization is like the Mafia,
once you enter into an agreement,
to pay back loans and sky high interest,
you can't get out,
you're drowned in student loans,
can't make the payments,
go back to school, once again be a student,
try to get a master's or doctorate,
work full-time at a dead-end job, low-wage, third-rate,
until you're six feet under, life gone away,
thanks to Sallie Mae
