Analysis of Pumpkin Grin
I know there’s nothing I can whisper
that the night won’t understand,
as her blushing hazel moon
floats up the sapphire command.
October listens for the fall in me,
for now she’s everywhere I am,
smiling, tricking me, to temp my soul
by any way she can.
She shadows mischief in the season
swirling fumes of amber fright.
Her spices brew into a current
flicking the jack-o-lantern light.
I breathe her potions in,
and out-- the romance she invites,
I taste her name, cold, deep, October
in the essence of the night.
Now I’m craving all the flavors
of her secret, glowing dim.
Although the first kiss leaves me satisfied
I lean in for more and then
I am smitten, I am spellbound
by the magic sweeping in.
Thawed by the embers of October
and her seductive pumpkin grin.
