Analysis of Great Grandmother

Halsey Rail Station burned
All her possessions gone
Caught a ride to Valentine
Got teaching certificate
And homestead rights
Mothered her four alone;
Sewed, gardened and survived
Sandhill homesteader
Taught school and prayed
An example to many
Married a widower-three more
Organized Elsmere Sunday School
Bible reading quietly
Assisted country births
Speaking words of wisdom
Wise respected by many
Crown of white braided hair
My respected namesake
A challenge to live up to
