Focused on a better day

Why aren't I going outside today?
Sun is shining brightly on my floor
Winds have subsided considerably
Animals come running to my door

There's no phone calls to keep me in
I'd like to walk to my mail box to see
There should be some letters waiting
The problem is a big one for me

You see, I have picked up 'the bug'
It's no fun but I surely have it all
Sore throat, aching muscles, headache
Cough, uneasiness, eyes, you recall

I'll be good and take my medicine
Gargle salt water, drink juice and say
Like my mother often cheerfully advised,
"There surely will be another better day."

Thanks again to my dear mother I will
Remember her again and again as I stay
Until I feel better I'll do what I should
And
Focus on that coming better day!
