Analysis of Don’ts and don’t lets
Len Lewis 1943 (Port of Spain, Trinidad)
Don't let anything,
That anyone else does,
Make you do anything
You wouldn't otherwise have done.
Don't let anything,
That anyone else says,
Make you say anything
You wouldn't otherwise have said.
And don't let anything,
Anyone else enjoys,
Make you wish for anything
You would not otherwise have wished for.
But don't forget anyway;
That you deserve to get
The best of what there is to get,
As long as you remain within the boundaries
Of the laws of state and church
