Horizon pimpernel

Len Lewis 1943 (Port of Spain, Trinidad)

To swim or not to swim;

To decide

If it's better to skim

The tide.

But the ocean

Came up to the brim;

And beside,

The near future so dim,

From inside

The whole psyche was grim.

Then she cried,

As she billowed to him

With pride -

I'm an ocean;

 And this ocean

Was washing the sand

In its motion

To and from the land.

As he said to her

Give me your hand.

We'll swim

To the horizon as planned;

Then we'll decide,

By the time we are tanned,

How much further

Would make it real grand.

They're still swimming

Horizon pimpernel!
