Analysis of The Great Divide
“The Great Divide”
We felt the rumblings
unaware
the crack would be
so wide, so deep
Faults fracture,
fissures fester
toxic venoms
through us seep
We sound alarms
as children cry
and hope and pray
relief comes faster
Odds rise against
our humble pleas
to save us all
from war’s disaster
We remember
days much kinder,
filled with empathy
and love
In pit of darkness
looking up,
we search for light
in heavens above
We look to helpers,
begging for
their knowledge, wisdom
and their guidance
To banish evil
from the world
restoring peace,
Earthly alliance
Perhaps in time
all wounds will heal,
compassion fill
the great divide
But for now-
innocent souls
cruelly sacrificed,
still die
