Analysis of A Mother's Thoughts

My precious newborn,
I make my 1st sworn
Oath to you.
To keep you warm.
To keep you safe in my arms.
Sweet child it's you I adore.

It's such a gift to be a mother.
To create the life of another.
To feel this tiny human grow inside.
To know that this baby is alive.

It's terrifying to think,
This life that I bring,
Is my responsibility.
I will be your stability.

I break unhealthy habits.
For this life and mine aren't apart.
I want you to be healthy from the start.

For now we are one.
My daughter or son.
Your life had only begun.

What kind of Mother would I be
If I didn't take the time to see.
That if I didn't quit smoking,
My child would be born choking.

Their 1st breath a struggle.
That could only mean trouble.
I won't let that be.
I will be healthy.

Though I cannot feel you kick,
I know there's life getting stronger yet.

Now here we are you and me.
Still continuing our unity.
It's about 4 months or five.
You're still cozy in this little hive.

Amazed by the tricks you do.
You kick and twist and do summer salts too.
My sweet innocent baby,
For you I'd do anything.

Time seems to be flying by,
It's nearly month nine.
Don't worry, don't fret
Little one who I begat.

I have been preparing for your arrival.
My 1st priority is your survival.
I want to give you everything.
I hope happiness is what life will bring.

I hope to be a good mother to you.
Unconditional love I have for you.
And when you're grown.
When you venture out on your own.

Just know for you I still care.
For you I'll always be there.
Though you will roam.
This will always be your home.

Until the day
The lord takes me away.
Just remember I'll never be too far.
I'll always be in your heart.
