Jeg saae dig nys, da Du var karsk og glad,
Hos Dig og Dine var saa godt at være.
Nu Kredsen er som Avner splitted ad,
Brat tog dig Døden bort fra Dine Kjære.
„Guds Villie skee!" var Bønnen som Du bad,
„Guds Villie skee!", den Bøn vi og frembære.
I Kisten er kun Jord, et vissent Blad,
Det som vi elsked, boer hos Lysets Hære.
