Analysis of Dumber Than Driftwood Wishing For Winds
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Dumber than driftwood.
Having no bite to their bark.
Like dogs chasing cars.
Done to run then stop when cars park.
Then panic when hearing the engine start.
Incompetent politicians.
Running to be picked for elections to win.
But promise to swear,
They will represent their constituents.
In positions to make decisions,
Better than anyone else before or after them.
'Who are you referring to?
To be dumber than driftwood.'
The ones who believe,
Those they pick and select as their leaders.
To discover to find it out,
A bark without a bite.
Is no different than a kite attached to a string.
Held tightly by someone running to hope,
That kite will fly higher without wind to blow.
'I don't want to have to say that's stupid.'
You don't have to say a thing.
That doing belongs to the doer of fools.
Refusing to accept and believe...
No matter how long,
They await for that kite to fly.
Being duped they will excuse and deny.
While staying to remain wishing for winds.
Not to know that possibility,
Could for them achieve a greater success.
If they chose to search for water,
To bring it back from the Sahara Desert.
'Now 'that' I can see as a possibility.
How about you?'
I've never tried jumping from a plane,
Without a parachute.
Expecting the ground to be...
As soft as marshmellows.
And you might try that just for the experience.
'It does offer exciting prospects.
Much more then waiting for winds to blow.
Making that similar to watching grass grow,
On the head of a bald eagle.'
To that I agree.
There is nothing boring about that at all.
Until that eagle decides to bark like a dog.
Chase cars, fly a kite without wind.
Then sit in a political position.
Drifting along,
Lke a block of rotten wood.
Hollow from the inside and out.
Making promises to everyone,
One day they too...
Could afford their own yacht.
And...
Cheered to endorse, supported and believed!
'All I want to know,
Is who drugged the kool-aid...
Today,
Found delicious.
Leaving no one suspicious about that at all.'
