Analysis of Air I Wish To Breathe

Air I Wish To Breathe

I walk through darkness in broad daylight
Invisible shadows of a dilapidated life
Torn apart by choices gone wrong
Good fortune taken away
By those who don’t really know me
Weighed, measured
And found wanting.

The pressure of a deep sea crushes me
Beneath the depths of too much
Grief, sorrow, and defeats
Bury me below so far
Underneath an ocean
Light barely seen
Where hope is absent.

Tyranny of scorn and judgment ravages
My desires and my dreams
I beg for help without answer
How can the world be so cold?
The air around me
Feels as frozen as apathy
The indifference hurts.

Suddenly a shift in the wind occurs
A breeze I felt before returns
The burns and scars I bear
Are soothed by a force
I can’t see but feel
You touch me softly
And I begin to heal.

You are the air I wish to breathe
The freedom opening my lungs
Moving me forward
Your love comes softly
Lifting me from suffering
What marvelous grace
And mercy revives me!

The cool breeze is your presence
Wrapping me in welcome air
I embrace the freshness
Your kindness inspires me
Tenderness returns to my hands
I breathe differently
And I feel alive and happy!
